About The Position

Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry is looking for a Machining Process Engineer to join our engineering team and help solve real-world machining challenges across our operation. This isn't an engineering job where you'll spend your days behind a desk updating spreadsheets. You'll be on the floor. You'll work with machinists, engineers, suppliers and leadership. You'll troubleshoot. You'll optimize. You'll quote. You'll build better processes.

Requirements

  • An engineering degree
  • 3+ years of production machine-shop engineering experience
  • Experience troubleshooting manufacturing problems
  • A working knowledge of CAM, PFMEA, Control Plans and dimensional inspection
  • The ability to communicate with both engineers AND the machinists making the parts

Nice To Haves

  • You've machined castings before.
  • You understand that the answer isn't always in the textbook. Sometimes you have to go to the machine, talk to the machinist, look at the part, understand the material, look at the tooling, and figure it out.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot machining problems and improve existing processes
  • Optimize feeds & speeds for quality and throughput
  • Help quote machining for WAF castings
  • Develop and approve work holding for new projects
  • Evaluate machine tools, cutters and machining methods
  • Support machining quality processes and systems
  • Work with suppliers and help develop supplier capabilities
  • Use data, technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to make processes better, faster and more reliable
