About The Position

Quad is seeking a Machining & Mechanical Assembly Technician to join our Roller Operations team. In this role, you'll rebuild, refurbish, and manufacture precision rubber rollers that support Quad's printing facilities across the country. Through paid, hands-on training, you'll learn specialized machining, grinding, mechanical assembly, and inspection processes while developing valuable technical skills with opportunities for long-term career growth.

Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn a specialized manufacturing trade.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English to safely perform job duties, follow work instructions, and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Windows applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Forklift experience or willingness to become certified.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in machining, mechanical assembly, manufacturing, industrial maintenance, mechanical repair, or related fields is preferred.
  • Experience operating machine tools, lathes, grinders, or similar equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring equipment is preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and schedule roller refurbishment orders from Quad manufacturing facilities.
  • Remove bearings and inspect roller components for wear and damage.
  • Operate stripping lathes to remove worn rubber from rollers.
  • Build rollers using specialized rubber application equipment.
  • Grind, machine, and polish rollers to precise specifications.
  • Paint, assemble, package, and prepare finished rollers for shipment.
  • Use precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, dial indicators, and tape measures.
  • Read blueprints and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  • Learn to safely operate a variety of industrial machinery and lathes.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
