About The Position

Astemo Rock Spring, Inc. was established in 2000 and supplies aluminum knuckles to Honda and Subaru. The company is located in Rock Spring, GA, and operates on 3 shifts with 400 employees across three main manufacturing departments: Casting, Machining, and Press Assembly. It is part of Astemo, Inc., which has 90,000 employees worldwide. This full-time quality assurance position is responsible for the final inspection of Aluminum parts and Brake Component Parts, utilizing various measuring devices to ensure compliance with customer requirements. The Machining 1st Inspector will support and aid in maintaining the quality of parts per line(s) and ensure quality compliance. The role also involves understanding and performing testing as directed by the Quality team and contributing to overall company goals including OSHA safety compliance, ISO 14001 Environmental Compliance, Ethical & Legal compliance, Customer Quality, Production to Plan, and Delivery Performance. Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Previous experience in related field (2-5 years)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the final inspection of Aluminum parts and Brake Component Parts
  • Uses gauges, markers, fixtures, jigs, calipers or any other measuring device to ensure parts meet customer requirements
  • Support and aid in the Quality of parts per line(s)
  • Making sure we are in Quality Compliance with the Quality of our part
  • Complete part quality checks in compliance with the standard for each model
  • Support the review and disposition of defective parts
  • Support confirming check sheets are complete
  • Understand and perform testing as directed by the Quality team
  • Work toward meeting overall company goals established which include, OSHA safety compliance, ISO 14001 Environmental Compliance, Ethical & Legal compliance, Customer Quality, Production to Plan, and Delivery Performance
  • Promotes a safety first attitude and provides safe work environment by obtaining knowledge and then following all required OSHA regulations which may or may not include: Personal Protective Equipment, LOTO, Crane, Powered Lifts, Machine Guarding, Chemicals, Fall Protection, Fire Protection, Incident reporting, Respirator, Hearing conservation, Confined Spaces, and others
  • Coordinates safety and environment repair activities
  • Assist to ensure that parts knowledge and training is completed where needed
  • Follows work instructions and point cards and other direction as given
  • Ensures quality requirements and packaging requirements are met
  • Ensures associates understands and follows all change point procedures and completes all required documentation
  • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy quantity and labeling of lot tags as they are packed for shipment to assembly
  • Responsible for communication to production management any concerns
  • May use pallet jacks for material movement
  • Timely completion of tasks
  • Suggest and Implement improvement ideas
  • Cross trained in various location selected positions in one or more departments
  • Supports Business Plan Targets and monitors measurable goals based on Business Plan objectives
  • Reports quality issues to quality department and production issues to Manufacturing department
