About The Position

The Machining Engineer II turns complex engineering designs into precise, production-ready CNC programs. This position drives machining strategy, validates programs on the shop floor, and helps improve manufacturing performance from prototype through full-rate production.

Requirements

  • Proficient ability of programming CNC machines (3-, 4-, and 5-axis)
  • Proficient ability with CAM software for CNC programming
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, speeds, and feeds
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and define machining strategies
  • Ability to validate CNC programs (prove-outs) and troubleshooting production issues
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with engineering and production teams

Nice To Haves

  • Previous machining engineering experience supporting new product introduction or production ramp-up within the Military or Automotive industry is preferred.
  • Previous experience with CAM software is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SW, Mori, Okuma, Mazak, Nakamura, Kitamura, and Haas Machines
  • Familiarity with Siemens and Fanuc Controls
  • Knowledge of tooling and fixture design
  • Ability to lead process improvements and lean manufacturing
  • Lean Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and own optimizations of CNC programs for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machines in production environments.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and develop machining approaches for complex components.
  • Determine and select tooling, speeds, and feeds to balance precision and efficiency requirements.
  • Validate programs through machine prove-outs and setup support during production.
  • Troubleshoot complex machining and production issues in real time on the shop floor.
  • Create and maintain clear manufacturing work instructions for daily operations.
  • Train and support machine operators as needed during ongoing production activities.
  • Responsible for new equipment setup and production ramp-up initiatives.
  • Partner with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve processes and workflows.
  • Lead tooling and fixture development for repeatability and performance improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned by management and department leadership.
