About The Position

Bekum's Apprenticeship program offers a comprehensive opportunity for individuals seeking a career in machining. This program combines on-the-job training with specialized courses at Lansing Community College, fully sponsored by Bekum. Apprentices will complete 8,000 hours of rigorous training to develop expertise in machining techniques and processes, learn to operate and maintain various machining equipment including CNC machines, and develop problem-solving skills. They will collaborate with experienced professionals and fellow apprentices and work towards obtaining a Journeyman's certificate from the US Department of Labor upon successful completion. There is also an opportunity to pursue an Associate's Degree. Specialization options include Electrical Systems, CNC Machining, Welding, Mechatronics, and Machine Building, which will determine the focus of the apprenticeship training.

Requirements

  • High school senior graduating in 2026
  • Possesses the physical and mental capabilities necessary to perform the work of the selected skilled trade
  • A valid driver's license
  • Reliable transportation
  • Submit a comprehensive, up-to-date resume detailing career objectives, relevant skills, employment history, and educational background
  • Submit current official high school transcripts
  • Submit a formal letter of recommendation from a non-family member, such as a teacher, academic advisor, or employer, attesting to the applicant's character and aptitude
  • Submit copies of any pertinent achievement awards received during the applicant's high school tenure, if applicable

Responsibilities
