About The Position

Machine Tool Repair Technicians are needed at The Large Power Systems Division located in Lafayette, IN. In this role, you will be responsible for mechanically troubleshooting and repairing complex domestic and foreign machine tools and related equipment used for milling, drilling, and grinding cast iron and steel components. The applicant must possess the ability to troubleshoot and repair various types of machines and components. This position offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus and is for 2nd & 3rd Shift with an hourly pay of $38.52 plus a 6% shift premium. Requirements

Successfully completed an approved mechanical apprenticeship program or possess extensive experience in the mechanical repair of machine tools and related equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair the several different types of machines and components.
Possess basic electrical skills and the ability to operate basic tools to complete the machine repair job.
Self-starter and self-motivated individual.
Ability to work in a fast pace, medium to heavy duty assembly, technical environment.
Work may involve frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling, twisting, turning, climbing, and standing on concrete for 8+ hours.
Ability to lift 40 pounds and withstand frequent repetitive movement of hands with a variety of tooling.
Must be able to work in heights and confined spaces.

Skilled and experienced with preventative and predictive maintenance practices and technology.
Metal fabrication skills.
Familiar with ball screw repair, repair of precision spindles, and ability to do precision laser alignments on machine tools.

Responsibilities

Mechanically troubleshoot and repair complex domestic and foreign machine tools and related equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair various types of machines and components.
Install, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems, ball screws, precision bearings, and various controllers on machines.
Read and understand machine tool prints and work with tight tolerances.
Perform leveling and alignment of machines, alignment of shafts, gearing, welding, lubrication, pipefitting, and tube bending.
Possess basic electrical skills and the ability to operate basic tools to complete machine repair jobs.
Work individually in a team environment.
Willing to work overtime opportunities to support production demands.
Perform preventative and predictive maintenance practices and technology.
Perform metal fabrication.
Repair ball screws and precision spindles.
Perform precision laser alignments on machine tools.
Communicate and build strong relationships with internal/external customers/stakeholders.
