About The Position

Rhopac is looking for individuals who are mechanically inclined and enjoy performing maintenance on vehicles, lawn and garden equipment, utility vehicles, or home repairs. The Machine Technician will operate various production machines, ensuring adherence to production orders and quality standards. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to troubleshoot, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to understand and safely operate at least two types of production machines.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to legibly write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Basic P/C or Windows basic interface.
  • Addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to work through problems.
  • Observes safety and security procedures.
  • Reports potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Stands; uses arms/hands/fingers, walks to and from Quality or Plant Manager offices.
  • Specific vision abilities required: Close vision, Distance vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in operating various types of machines, such as: Laminator, Slitter, Re-Roller, Digital Cutter, Vertical Saw, Skiver/Splitter, Punch Press Die Cutting, Travel Head Press, Preco Press and other miscellaneous production machines.
  • Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Spanish is the predominant language on the production floor.

Responsibilities

  • Reads and follows the Production Order to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
  • Positions parts against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade.
  • Observes machine operation to detect part defects or machine malfunction.
  • Produces parts to the print and works efficiently.
  • Packages parts correctly, as required.
  • Loads log rolls.
  • Sets the proper cut width for slitting.
  • Unloads pancake rolls and packs them.
  • Performs gluing for buns.
  • Sets cut thickness for skiving/splitting.
  • Re-rolls or stacks cut material.
  • Sets up roll or sheet material to be cut on the digital cutter.
  • Runs the correct program from the program library for digital cutting.
  • Packs parts while monitoring material cutting.
  • Cuts materials to needed dimensions on the vertical saw.
  • Squares the bun material for gluing.
  • Loads materials and adhesives per production orders on the laminator.
  • Sets roller pressure and speed per part documentation.
  • Sets knives when needed.
  • Sets PSA unwind temperature.
  • Unloads finished rolls from the laminator.
