About The Position

Oil States Piper Valve is currently looking for qualified candidates for the position of MACHINE SHOP SUPERVISOR in Oklahoma City, OK. In this role, the Machine Shop Supervisor has a critical and challenging role in helping achieve innovation and meeting our commitments by planning, directing, and coordinating all work activities and resources, people, and equipment, necessary for machining products in accordance with cost, quality, quantity, and delivery specifications.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a demonstrated knowledge of OSI-OKC Piper product lines and valve industry standards.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Basic knowledge of principles of Inventory Control.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Ability to establish and maintain constructive working relationships with people.
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects daily in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to speak, write and read English.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team on a broad variety of projects.
  • Strong problem-solving and analysis skills.
  • Willingness to work additional hours to meet tight deadlines.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of direct machine shop management experience.
  • Must obtain and maintain active OSI-OKC Piper certification to operate Class IV forklifts.
  • Must obtain and maintain active OSI-OKC Piper certifications to operate cranes.
  • Must obtain and maintain Authorized Driver status as defined by the Oil States Company Vehicles and Drivers policy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, implement, and report production schedules and activities of the machine shop department.
  • Review processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning tooling and raw material inventory requirements, staffing needs, work procedures, and duty assignments while considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
  • Develop and/or optimize machine shop work process to streamline all elements of production while assuring complete compliance with HSE and OSHA policies and practices.
  • Develop and implement production tracking and sustain quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, and other operational reports, to detect, anticipate, and proactively solve production problems.
  • Maximize machine utilization and on-time performance.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, discharge staff, and resolve employee relations issues in collaboration with the Operations Manager and Human Resources.
  • Perform all tasks as required of a Safety Sensitive position.
  • Make recommendations with the goal of reducing machine set-up time, reducing processing time, and/or increasing Safety. Such recommendations may include the acquisition of equipment.
  • Become familiar with company accounting and manufacturing software and incorporate that software into the machine shop processes from purchase of raw material to finished components.
  • Become familiar with manufacturing theory such as Lean and/or Six Sigma and how such theory may be adapted to our operation.
  • Coordinate and recommend procedures for facility and equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of machines.
  • Assist the Operations leadership to develop and monitor operational budget while participating in cost reduction initiatives.
  • Participate in Research & Development activities as needed.
  • Effectively and efficiently use time to safely perform duties.
  • Complete all paperwork in required manner and time.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn to produce new products, use new procedures, and embrace and support change.
  • Follow and support established HSE programs.
  • Report any unsafe situations to appropriate Management Team member if necessary.
  • All other duties or tasks as assigned.
