About The Position
Responsible for adhering to the machine shop schedule for the flow of product through the shop floor. This role focuses on improving machine run times, reducing machine setup times, and assisting in product routing as required for optimum efficiency. The supervisor will lead a team of 30-40 Machinists.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 7+ years of related experience required
- Machining equipment knowledge
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word, etc.)
- Effective Communication Skills
- Supervisory / Leadership Skills
- Proficient in measuring equipment (Micrometers, dial indicators, etc.)
- Understands product routing / process flow
Nice To Haves
- Formal schooling from a college or trade school with a relevance to machining or machining technology preferred
Responsibilities
- Supervises all machine shop employees
- Workflow output to support strategic initiatives
- Responsible for ongoing training
- Responsible for the safety of department employees
- Provides leadership and direction including coordination between shifts, overtime, and vacations
- Conducts department meeting to go over production, schedules, orders, etc.
- Completes employee evaluations (Probationary & Annual)
- Responsible for disciplinary actions (in conjunction with Human Resources)
- Determines equipment and tooling needs
- Manages cost reduction efforts
- Works closely with the scheduler to meet production goals / deadlines
- Performs regular duties of a machinist on occasion (running orders, reading blueprints, machine setup, etc.)
