About The Position

The Machine Setup & Process Technician is responsible for setting up, changing over, and adjusting paper converting equipment to support efficient production. This is a hands-on technical role for someone with strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys working with machinery, solving problems, and keeping production equipment running effectively. This position performs multiple machine setups and changeovers throughout the shift, makes equipment adjustments for different products and production runs, troubleshoots mechanical issues, and works closely with Machine Operators and Maintenance Technicians to support equipment performance, product quality, and production uptime.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand equipment operation and setup procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and make appropriate machine adjustments.
  • Strong attention to safety, quality, and detail.
  • Ability to accurately read and use measuring tools, including tape measures.
  • Basic math skills, including fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, equipment manuals, and production specifications.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple setups and priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer skills for entering and maintaining production and equipment records.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1+ year of machine operation, setup, mechanical, or manufacturing-equipment experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with paper converting, flexographic printing, or similar manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • Experience independently performing machine setups/changeovers and troubleshooting mechanical equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate and timely setups and changeovers of paper converting equipment according to production requirements.
  • Adjust machine components and settings for different products, sizes, and production runs.
  • Verify machine setup and make necessary adjustments to support product quality and efficient operation.
  • Assist Machine Operators with equipment startup and operation following setups and changeovers.
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical or equipment issues and make adjustments or repairs within the scope of the position.
  • Assist Maintenance Technicians with larger equipment projects and repairs.
  • Learn print setup processes to support cross-functional training and development.
  • Communicate equipment problems requiring additional repair or maintenance to the appropriate personnel.
  • Perform routine equipment cleaning, lubrication, adjustments, and basic preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records of setups, adjustments, repairs, and other work performed.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to setup efficiency, equipment performance, and production uptime.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift.
  • Follow all applicable company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and equipment operating procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
