About The Position

Chesapeake Automotive Equipment is hiring a field-based technician to support the installation and servicing of automotive shop equipment. This position is ideal for someone with strong mechanical ability who enjoys working independently and solving technical problems in real-world environments. We support a wide range of automotive service businesses by providing reliable equipment and ongoing service to keep operations running safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Hands-on experience with automotive or industrial equipment
  • Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
  • Familiarity with automotive shop environments
  • Ability to work independently and manage service calls
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in varying conditions

Responsibilities

  • Install shop equipment including lifts, air systems, and specialty tools
  • Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on-site
  • Evaluate customer locations to determine service or installation requirements
  • Complete service work independently while maintaining clear communication with clients
  • Record details of work completed, materials used, and recommended follow-up
  • Follow all safety procedures and company guidelines
  • Maintain tools, parts inventory, and service readiness
