About The Position

This role involves operating an edging machine to process materials according to work order specifications. Initial training will be conducted on the first shift for the first 1-2 months, after which the role will transition to the second shift (Monday – Friday, 2pm-10pm). The position requires attention to detail in checking materials for quality, weight, alloy, and size, as well as performing set-ups and documentation. Minor mechanical repairs and maintaining a clean work area are also part of the responsibilities. The role also includes troubleshooting issues and concerns, and requires math aptitude for calculations.

Requirements

  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • Must be able to use and understand simple mathematics, using addition, subtraction, fractions and decimals.
  • Knowledge of the Standard/Imperial measuring system is required.
  • Understanding and use of basic measuring instruments required; micrometers, digital calipers, tape measure is required.

  • Knowledge of the metric system is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Checking work order, properly select processed material checking for weight, alloy, size and quality.
  • Operate an edging machine.
  • Inspect material during processing to ensure proper quality is maintained.
  • Set-up an edger machine.
  • Identify the correct edging tools to utilize.
  • Run material according to specifications of work order.
  • Check material - free of burrs, scratches, coil set, and within camber specifications.
  • Properly identify all edged material and complete all documentation.
  • May require the repair of minor mechanical problems.
  • Group completed coils together by work order in designated area.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and neat fashion.
  • Troubleshoot any issues and concerns.
