About The Position

Atkore is seeking a Machine Operator based in Hobart, Indiana. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this person operates and sets up various automatic strut welder machines. The position pays an estimated $23.00 per hour, with a $1.00-per-hour shift differential for off shifts and eligibility for a local monthly incentive plan after 90 days.

The operator is expected to safely operate strut welders within engineered takt times, follow production work orders, complete production, downtime, and quality-assurance documentation, and monitor product quality. The role also involves communicating safety or production issues to the shift supervisor, operating a forklift when needed, and performing physical work that includes lifting and manipulating up to 60 pounds and standing or walking for up to 12 hours per day.

Within three months, the operator is expected to safely run all strut welders within engineered takt time; troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on the machines; assist setup personnel with major changeovers; monitor product quality; and perform changeovers and setups for length, finish, solid or slotted material, profiles, and channel sizes within engineered setup parameters.

Requirements

• One year of strut welder operation experience or equivalent training.
• Ability to lift and manipulate up to 60 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours per day.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous welding experience is a plus.
• Previous forklift experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate strut welders within engineered takt times.
• Read and execute production work orders.
• Complete production, downtime, and quality-assurance reports and documentation.
• Monitor the quality of products being produced.
• Lift and manipulate materials weighing up to 60 pounds.
• Stand and walk for up to 12 hours per day.
• Drive a forklift when necessary.
• Communicate safety, production, and other problems to the shift supervisor.
• Troubleshoot strut welders and perform preventive maintenance on them.
• Assist setup personnel with major changeover procedures.
• Perform changeovers and setups for length changes, finishes (PG and PL), solid-to-slotted material, profiles, and channel sizes within engineered setup parameters.
