About The Position

Sofidel Tissue of Las Vegas is seeking Machine Operators to join their Converting team. This role is ideal for individuals local to the area seeking a long-term position in a stable, growth-oriented company. The Machine Operator is responsible for operating production equipment and related computer systems to manufacture finished goods. This includes performing quality checks, preparing materials for shipment, and adhering to established processes. Successful candidates will support Sofidel’s Employee Personal Practice Policy and contribute to a safe, efficient, and high-performing work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or six (6) to twelve (12) months experience in manufacturing inventory and purchasing and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • SAP experience is a must.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally across departments and in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize tasks as needed with strong time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work from written orders detailing production type, material, and palletization method.
  • Perform hourly quality checks and submit daily quality reports to the QA department.
  • Operate a hoist and pallet jack to load parent rolls of paper into brackets.
  • Operate equipment through computer panel boards for tasks such as setting roll diameters and lengths, perforation lengths, and lop saw functions.
  • Program and monitor computerized operating panels.
  • Calculate and determine proper core size, roll diameters, required footage, and perforation.
  • Operate packaging equipment using poly or paper wrap, including loading and setup according to production requirements, and equipment to pack products in boxes.
  • Initiate setup, operations, and adjustments of the rewinder and all downstream equipment to achieve production quotas.
  • Understand and apply customer specifications to machine operations to ensure finished goods comply with requirements.
  • Program the log saw and clamp product in the log saw.
  • Determine and verify cut accuracy and adjust as needed.
  • Monitor and perform product changeovers in conjunction with Rapid Changeover Technicians (RCO Techs).
  • Adjust the embossing unit and change the core chuck as needed.
  • Ensure regular and open communication with quality, maintenance, and supervision.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills on a regular, consistent basis.
  • Keep work area clean and organized while following lean initiatives.
  • Support Sofidel Tissue's Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP to promote a safe, sanitary, and hygienically sound workplace.
