About The Position

This Machine Operator position involves setting up, laying out, and operating various CNC mills, as well as setting up and operating 3 and 5 axis CNC milling centers and CNC lathes. The role requires reading blueprints or job orders for product specifications and tool instructions, selecting and securing tools, and positioning work pieces. The operator will move controls to set feeds, speeds, and depth of cut, perform first piece inspections, and observe machine operation to verify conformity to specifications. The position also involves performing assembly-type functions using hand or power tools, adjusting, trimming, and fitting parts to close tolerances, and following visual aids. Additional duties include making up cartons, printing labels, inserting protective packing material, sealing finished products, meeting efficiency rates, and performing quality checks. The role requires maintaining a clean and orderly work area, discussing errors with supervisors or engineers, and being flexible to rotate job assignments within various work cells. Requirements

  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers and calipers
  • Solid experience with CNC Tooling, Controls and minor edits running CNC Mill machines
  • GED/HS Diploma

Responsibilities

  • Setup, layout and operate various CNC mills
  • Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications and tool instructions
  • Selects, positions, and secures tool in tool holder
  • Positions and secures work piece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers or fixtures
  • Moves controls to position tool and work piece in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds and depth of cut
  • 1st piece inspection (check first piece/pieces per blueprints and BOMs)
  • Observes operation of machine and verifies conformity of machined work piece to specifications
  • Keeps work area clean and orderly
  • Discusses errors in diagrams or production order with supervisor or engineer to clarify assembly problems.
  • Performs any assembly-type functions, using hand or power tools
  • Set up and Operate 3 and 5 axis CNC milling centers and CNC lathes
  • Adjusts, trim and fitting parts to close tolerances
  • Follows visual aids (standard work) to ensure work is correct
  • Make up cartons, print labels, insert protective packing material, seal finishing product
  • Meet efficiency rates
  • Perform quality checks to ensure quality specifications are met
  • Reports defective materials or questionable conditions
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition - 5S
  • Must be flexible to rotate job assignments within various work cells
  • Performs related duties as assigned by supervision
  • Work within all safety guidelines and wear all required PPE
  • Perform quality checks to ensure quality specifications are meant.
