About The Position

AGI is a global food-based infrastructure company publicly traded in Canada, with over 3,800 employees and over 30 global manufacturing brands. It is a leading provider of equipment and technology solutions for agricultural commodities including seed, fertilizer, grain and feed systems and an expanding platform for food processing facilities. The Machine Operator role is responsible for operating a multitude of equipment or machinery in a designated work area or department. Duties may include operation of a variety of machines that cut, bend, roll or otherwise shape metal, and the operation of forklifts or other power mobile equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred or one year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools
  • Able to work in fast paced environment handling heavy loads and standing for long periods of time
  • Possess attention to detail, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Able to operate overhead crane and forklift (if applicable)
  • Able to read, understand and follow blueprints
  • Ability to read and interpret a tape measure
  • Able to complete basic mathematics (addition, subtraction)
  • Able to read, write, and interpret English language
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Exemplary attendance record
  • Willing to perform a variety of tasks

  • Manufacturing experience is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Use a variety of manufacturing equipment to fabricate steel (industrial bends, plasma cutters, cut to length machines, etc.).
  • Read and understand blueprints, specifications and drawings
  • Set up and operate all key equipment in the fabrication department (Plasma table, Laser, Presses, brakes, rollers)
  • Arrange parts and staging of materials
  • Propose potential quality or productivity enhancements
  • Ensure quality checks of products are completed as required
  • Complete required PM’s and calibrations for their machines and tools
  • Report any quality concerns to lead hand
  • Complete job orders using Kanban cards and job orders properly (if applicable)
  • Accurately complete scrap tickets, travelers and shift reports
  • Review of finish parts to ensure accuracy against drawings
  • Follow all SOP’s and SWI’s required for the departments.
  • Propose potential quality or productivity enhancements i.e. continual improvements
  • Review of finished parts to ensure accuracy against drawings & BOMs.
  • Report fabrication issues and assist in resolutions as required.
