About The Position

The Machine Operator I is responsible for setting up and operating heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations. They must have thorough knowledge of production techniques and the ability to produce quality-building parts. This role involves operating various CNC-controlled machines, such as presses, lasers, and rolling mills in a fast-paced production setting, with an emphasis on safety and quality. The position also includes performing routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment, marking parts with necessary identification, interpreting blueprints and technical data, and maintaining continuous improvement practices. The operator will also be expected to provide cost-saving suggestions, utilize scanning equipment, inspect work visually for defects, read a tape measure, write, and follow posted schedules. Teamwork and a commitment to safety are essential. This position may involve working overtime and other assigned duties.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
A minimum of one year of related work experience in manufacturing or comparable work environment
A minimum of one year operating manufacturing machinery and/or equipment
Good Communication Skills
Basic Computer Skills
Experience with hand tools, wrenches, banding equipment and nail guns
Able to use of measuring gauges
Able to read a tape measure
Must be trainable on forklift
Must be trainable on crane
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist
Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations.
Understand and follow safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and around a manufacturing environment.
Set up and operate machinery and equipment to cut, punch, form, or paint quality finished or semi-finished parts.
Operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment.
Operate various CNC-controlled machines, such as presses, lasers, and rolling mills in a fast-paced production setting, with an emphasis on safety and quality.
Perform routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required to maintain proper operation.
Mark part numbers, order numbers, and the number of pieces on parts, and attach identification tags as required.
Interpret blueprints, specifications, and other technical data to select the correct raw material or semi-finished parts.
Maintain continuous improvement practices in work area.
Provide cost-saving suggestions and ideas to improve productivity and eliminate waste.
Utilize scanning equipment.
Inspect work visually for defects according to Quality Systems.
Read a tape measure, write, and follow posted schedules.
Be a team player and keep safety first.
Willing/able to work overtime.
