About The Position

At USA Wood Door, we deliver tailored solutions with trusted service, exceptional quality, and superior speed. Our team works closely together and with our customers to understand project needs, craft custom doors, frames, and wood components, and deliver them fast — often in two weeks or less. With deep expertise and a commitment to reliability, we help customers solve problems and keep projects on track across industries such as healthcare, hospitality, education, and retail. This position is based on the wood side of our plant, where safety, teamwork, quality, and efficiency support our custom wood door production operations. The Machine Operator works in a high-performance production environment on a cross-functional team and is responsible for operating equipment, following production schedules, moving materials, maintaining production flow, and supporting team success. Candidates should be cooperative, safety-focused, and willing to apply their skills across multiple tasks and rotate positions as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, understand, and follow production schedules, work instructions, and basic production documents.
  • Basic reading and writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, leads, and team members.
  • Ability to use measuring tools such as a tape measure and caliper.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and appropriately.
  • Ability to perform basic math, including addition and subtraction of whole numbers and fractions, and conversion of fractions to decimals.
  • Ability to maintain accurate downtime records and production information as appropriate.
  • Ability to operate material-handling equipment such as fork trucks, push carts, or pallet jacks if trained and authorized.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work under general supervision and follow assigned priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing, production, machine operation, woodworking, or warehouse experience preferred.
  • Fork truck experience is a plus, if applicable to assigned duties.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, tape measures, or calipers preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely and follow all safety rules, procedures, and company policies.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
  • Read, understand, and follow production schedules, work instructions, and related production documents.
  • Operate assigned production equipment and machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Gather, stage, move, and prepare materials as needed to support production.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, leads, and team members to support the flow of product through the plant.
  • Maintain downtime records, production information, and other documentation as appropriate.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant work area.
  • Use measuring tools such as a tape measure and caliper to support accurate production.
  • Use hand tools and power tools as required for assigned tasks.
  • Drive a fork truck or use push carts, pallet jacks, or other material-handling equipment if trained and authorized.
  • Inspect work and report defects, discrepancies, equipment issues, safety concerns, or quality concerns to the appropriate supervisor or lead.
  • Work cooperatively as part of a cross-functional team and rotate positions on a regular basis as needed to support production goals.
  • Complete assignments efficiently to support production without compromising safety or quality.
  • Perform miscellaneous and related duties as assigned.
