About The Position

The Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating packaging machines and monitoring the work activities of production employees involved in the packaging of Ready to Eat products. The Machine Operator ensures that safety and food safety policies are adhered to and that packaged products conform to specifications/quality standards.

Requirements

  • Must have 12 months of continuous work experience with a single employer.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience as machine operator.
  • Basic math and computer skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • High school education with 2 to 3 years sanitation experience in a meat processing facility.
  • A self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
  • Mechanical knowledge preferred
  • Previous experience in a USDA food manufacturing environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operating the Multivac, Propac, Cryovac machines in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Accurately utilize packaging SOP to pull the correct materials for assigned packaging schedule/s
  • Utilize SAP to accurately transfer material and/or wip to and from storage location and assigned location/s
  • Utilize SAP to make transaction corrections when necessary
  • Ability to push racks of up to 2000 pounds of product on rail system
  • Install/register film on packaging machines
  • Sharpen slicer blades
  • Ability to set and adjust equipment to standardized speeds and troubleshoot/adjust as necessary
  • Maintain standard line performance
  • Consistently setup and start line on time
  • Account for all downtime and problem solve issues as necessary
  • Train new machine operators
  • Serve as safety captain and first point of contact on the line for production and equipment related issues
  • Must be able to work overtime on assigned shift and/or weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level up to 40 to 60 pounds repeatedly.
  • Must be able to push/manipulate up to 40 - 60 pounds repeatedly.
  • Must be willing to tolerate temperatures of 35 degrees or below for entire shift; be able to walk and stand on concrete floor for the shift duration and able to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • The Team Member must be willing to complete all required training for the job.
  • Perform any other work as assigned by supervisor or lead person.
  • Comply with all safety, food safety, GMP and SQF Requirements.
  • Must perform all positions of rotation, if applicable.
  • Perform any other work as assigned by supervisor and/or lead.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic math, grammar and communication skills.
