Requirements
- Experience operating machine tools in a manufacturing or production environment
- Ability to read blueprints and follow machining procedures and work instructions
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, gauges, calipers, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail, quality, and safety standards
- Ability to perform basic math calculations and measurements
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team within standard operating procedures
- Dependable attendance and ability to meet production schedules
- Willingness to learn and progress within machine operation levels
- High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent experience
Nice To Haves
- Additional experience and ability to train or mentor others required for senior‑level roles
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate machine tools to cut, shape, or form metal to specification
- Read blueprints, drawings, or work instructions to determine machining requirements
- Monitor machine operations, including feed and speed, to ensure proper performance
- Measure and inspect completed parts using precision tools to verify quality and accuracy
- Perform routine adjustments, cleaning, and basic maintenance on machines
- Identify machining issues and notify appropriate personnel when advanced adjustments are needed
- Evaluate machining processes and recommend improvements for efficiency or quality (level dependent)
- Dispose of scrap and waste materials in accordance with company and environmental guidelines
- Train, coach, or support less experienced machine operators (level dependent)
