About The Position

The Machine Operator I is responsible for setting up and operating heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations. They must have thorough knowledge of production techniques and the ability to produce quality-building parts. This role involves understanding and following safety rules, operating computerized and material handling equipment, performing routine preventive maintenance, marking parts, and interpreting blueprints and technical data to select the correct raw material or semifinished parts. Continuous improvement practices in the work area are also expected, and the operator may be assigned other projects and duties as designated by the Team Leader.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Some knowledge of a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist
  • Mobility – Prolonged periods of time on feet, standing, bending, etc.
  • Exposure – Moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and non-climate-controlled environment
  • Noise Tolerance – High noise levels
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up and operating heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations.
  • Understanding and following safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and around a manufacturing environment.
  • Setting up and operating machinery and equipment to cut, punch, form, or paint quality finished or semifinished parts.
  • Operating computerized equipment and material handling equipment.
  • Performing routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required to maintain proper operation.
  • Marking part numbers, order numbers, and the number of pieces on parts.
  • Attaching identification tags as required for customer to have the ability locate correct parts.
  • Interpreting blueprints, specifications, and other technical data to select the correct raw material or semifinished parts.
  • Maintaining continuous improvement practices in work area.
  • May be assigned other projects and duties as designated by Team Leader.
