About The Position

Sets up and operates a machine to produce acceptable product according to Mueller’s process. This role involves accepting materials, reviewing job specifications, setting up the machine, operating it, inspecting the product, and performing necessary documentation and housekeeping duties.

Requirements

Must be able to use and understand tape measure, ruler, and scales for the purpose of setting up the machine roll size.
May become a qualified quality inspector
Strong math skills
Creative problem-solving
Computer skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
Ability to write, fill out paperwork and keep track of time in English.
Ability to comprehend written and oral job instructions in English.
Ability to bend and lift up to 45 pounds.
Proper lifting techniques required.

Responsibilities

Accepts materials for each assigned job, reviews and evaluates prior to beginning.
Reads job specifications (job traveler) to determine machine adjustments, material requirements and to fully understand process prior to beginning each operation.
Fills out the sequence at every operation's completion.
Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
Positions work piece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade.
Activates machine and obtains first run work piece, inspects part, and verifies dimensional tolerances before continuing to run.
Selects and sets speed and feed of machine according to type of operation and specified material and finish.
Follows up with team lead to verify any questions if necessary.
Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
Completes first piece and last piece comparisons throughout the run.
Performs operation to acceptable quality standards, packs/stacks/marks parts if required.
Follows all safety policies and procedures.
Accurately completes all documentation as required to complete each job.
Performs housekeeping duties around work center to avoid slips, trips, and falls.
Will learn to use and operate a small crane.
