About The Position

This position is responsible for operating various production machines, ensuring proper machine function, conducting quality inspections, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The role involves responding to operational issues, performing minor maintenance, documenting production data, and assisting with training. Marginal functions may include making boxes, packing, testing products, and attaching labels.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Mechanical training/aptitude.
  • Technical training on packaging, plastics, and printing equipment.
  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience operating machines used in the packaging/plastics industry.
  • Ability to perform reading, writing, and speaking at a basic level.
  • Competent in practical application of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure.
  • Ability to calculate fractions, percentages, ratio, and proportion, variables, and formulas.
  • Ability to apply rational principles to solve practical problems and deal with several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills.
  • Use of CNC machines.
  • Standing, walking, bending, lifting, moving, talking, hearing, pushing, carrying, reaching, and grasping.
  • Normal mental and visual attention along with manual coordination; or part-time concentrated attention and coordination.
  • Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.
  • Ability to bring objects into sharp focus.
  • Ability to judge distance and space relationships.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force continuously and up to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Responsibilities

  • Start up production machines and ensure machine set points are accurate.
  • Operate various production machines including extrusion blow mold, extrusion machine, injection blow mold, injection mold, label, pad printer, and silk-screen.
  • Ensure proper operation of machines, clean filters, perform minor maintenance, and monitor while purging.
  • Verify correct sleeves, boxes, labels, and materials are used for the line by checking part numbers.
  • Conduct quality inspections while the line is running and check samples for compliance to specifications.
  • Respond to problems on the line by making proper adjustments to machines.
  • Notify supervisor when repairs and maintenance are required.
  • Re-start machines after maintenance is completed.
  • Prepare paperwork/documentation on problems, cause, and solutions.
  • Record production and/or quality data (manual/data collector) and close out production runs.
  • Keep area clean and free of debris, and enforce all safety and housekeeping policies and practices.
  • Assist with training other Technician Operators on various aspects of the job.
  • Provide relief for breaks and lunches.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects.
  • May make boxes, pack and/or test various products.
  • May attach labels to products.
