About The Position

Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools to make parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions. Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications to determine sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup. Uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments for machining operations. Makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds. Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining. Fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required. Operates Conventional and Computerized Numerical Controlled (CNC) equipment including milling, drilling, boring, honing, and grinding operations. Deburrs part surfaces and performs related finishing operations. Performs routine minor machine maintenance including filter replacement, bulb changes, and lubrication/coolant level maintenance. Trains and assists employees of the same or lower classification level to support continuous flow of products.

Requirements

Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
At least 3 years of machine operator experience.
Ability to operate a variety of machine tools to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
Experience with Conventional and Computerized Numerical Controlled (CNC) equipment.
Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
Experience using machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Knowledge of station safety, quality (FOD), and OSHA regulations.
High School Diploma or GED, or WorkKeys Assessment completion.

Nice To Haves

5+ years minimum experience in aviation production.
Experience with CNC 5-axis machines and training from a vocational school.
