About The Position

Machine operators use a variety of manual, automatic, and computerized equipment including but not limited to punch presses, mills, drills, tapping machines, grinders, sanders, or other miscellaneous equipment that may cut, bend, or manipulate metal to produce components in a temperature-controlled environment. This position would start at $22.35 per hour and would move to $24.56 after 90 days, pending successful attendance and performance. A $1.50 per hour shift differential for 2nd shift would also be included.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Select and apply proper belts, wheels, wear plates, grits, taps, inserts, holders, etc. to perform minor setup or adjustments or otherwise ready the work operation.
  • Adjust machine speeds.
  • Use hand tools as needed.
  • Follow established procedures to load and unload parts.
  • Use buttons, levers, or foot pedals as appropriate to activate machinery.
  • Observe machine operation for proper operation.
  • Visually inspect work pieces to detect flaws.
  • Measure workpiece with micrometers, calipers, and/or other gauges and complete IPS sheets where required.
  • Perform minor machine cleaning such as removing scrap metal from coolant screens and worktables as prescribed.
  • Keep the area neat and orderly.
  • Ensure all guarding is in place and operational prior to running equipment.
  • Report abnormalities and abide by all safety procedures.
  • Participate in problem-solving groups, experimental operations, or new equipment task groups as requested.
