About The Position

This role involves operating machinery to ensure product specifications are met. The Machine Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating machines, monitoring their performance, performing quality checks, and maintaining equipment. The position requires adherence to safety protocols and the ability to troubleshoot machine issues. There are two shift options available: a 3rd Shift from Monday to Thursday, 7:30 PM to 6:00 AM, and a Weekend Shift from Friday to Sunday, 5:30 AM to 6:00 PM.

Requirements

  • Ability to verify conformance of work pieces to specifications using preset gauges, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Ability to document hourly inspections for conforming production of product.
  • Ability to preset and change cutting tools and tool holders.
  • Ability to adjust machine controls and change tool settings.
  • Ability to set up fixtures and feeding devices.
  • Ability to observe lubricants and coolants.
  • Ability to confer with supervisor to resolve machine malfunctions and production errors.
  • Ability to set up and operate tools according to instructions, specifications, and standard charts.
  • Ability to study blueprints, work orders, and other specifications.
  • Ability to select, place, and secure tools.
  • Ability to place and secure workpieces.
  • Ability to prepare fixtures and feeding devices.
  • Ability to observe each machine to verify quality performance.
  • Ability to verify measuring instruments.
  • Ability to set and adjust necessary controls to regulate machines.
  • Ability to sharpen tools with a bench grinder.
  • Ability to maintain machines per operating and maintenance manuals.
  • Ability to analyze and diagnose machine and tooling problems and take corrective measures.

Responsibilities

  • Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications using preset gauges, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Document hourly inspections for conforming production of product.
  • Preset and change cutting tools and tool holders to maintain production requirements.
  • Adjust machine controls and change tool settings to keep dimensions within specified tolerances.
  • Set up fixture or feeding device, start machine and engage feed.
  • Observe lubricants and coolants to ensure they meet specifications as defined in the machine manual.
  • Confer with supervisor to resolve machine malfunctions and production errors and obtain approval to continue production.
  • Set up and operate tools according to instructions, specifications, and standard charts.
  • Study blueprints, work orders, and other specifications to ensure the proper setup sequence is followed.
  • Select, place, and secure tools.
  • Place and secure workpieces in the proper machine table, holding device, or other appropriate surface using clamps and wrenches.
  • Prepare fixtures and feeding devices, start machine, and engage feed.
  • Observe each machine to verify quality performance.
  • Verify measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, and micrometers are in proper working order.
  • Set and adjust necessary controls to regulate machines.
  • Sharpen tools with a bench grinder as needed.
  • Maintain machines per operating and maintenance manuals.
  • Analyze and diagnose machine and tooling problems and take corrective measures to minimize downtime and interruption of schedules.
  • Achieve highest safety levels in the plant.
  • Employ 5S to all functions within the plant.
