About The Position

The Machine Operator is responsible for safely running various machines throughout the facility. This includes daily safety checks, monitoring the heating and loading of billets into the press, monitoring the material as it is extruded for consistency, and the ability to perform hot die changes. This role requires the employee to constantly lift 35lb billets and be exposed to high temperatures, and the operator will also be required to wear heat-reflective Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the duration of the shift. This is not your average manufacturing job! You'll work in a climate-controlled environment using leading-edge manufacturing equipment. You will also learn about the exciting world of numismatics and precious metals while growing in your new career!

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to read drawings and measurement equipment is required.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Requires strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently or on a team.
Ability to work with little or no supervision.
Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.
Comfortable working in high temperatures.
Comfortable working in loud environments.
Knowledge of safe workplace practices in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with others.
Ability to work quickly and efficiently.

Nice To Haves

1-2 years of experience in a production environment is preferred.
Experience operating an extrusion press or operating similar machinery is preferred.
Basic use of Microsoft Office preferred.
Comfortable doing hot work and being consistently exposed to high temperatures.
Knowledge of forklift operation and safety a plus.

Responsibilities

Adjust, calibrate, and test equipment at the beginning of every shift to ensure proper pressure, speed, temperature, and general operation.
Examine visually, weigh, and measure components created from equipment to ensure machines are producing according to company and industry regulations and standards, adjusting as needed.
Work with team members, maintenance personnel, and leaders to ensure any complications are dealt with quickly and correctly.
Communicate with fellow team members to learn of any equipment problems or malfunctions and take care of them as they come up.
Maintain and clean equipment using regulated cleaning solutions, grease guns, oil cans, air hoses, and cleaning cloths.
Choose and install cutters, molds, and all other necessary equipment parts so machines are always operating at peak efficiency – This includes changing dies.
Communicate clearly and accurately to the following shift to ensure a smooth handoff.
Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
Perform daily safety checks.
Monitor the heating and loading of billets into the press.
Monitor the material as it is extruded for consistency.
Perform hot die changes.
