Requirements

  • Experience operating machine tools in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Ability to read blueprints and follow machining procedures and work instructions
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, gauges, calipers, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail, quality, and safety standards
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations and measurements
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team within standard operating procedures
  • Dependable attendance and ability to meet production schedules
  • Willingness to learn and progress within machine operation levels
  • High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent experience

Nice To Haves

  • Additional experience and ability to train or mentor others for senior ‑ level roles

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate machine tools to cut, shape, or form metal to specification
  • Read blueprints, drawings, or work instructions to determine machining requirements
  • Monitor machine operations, including feed and speed, to ensure proper performance
  • Measure and inspect completed parts using precision tools to verify quality and accuracy
  • Perform routine adjustments, cleaning, and basic maintenance on machines
  • Identify machining issues and notify appropriate personnel when advanced adjustments are needed
  • Evaluate machining processes and recommend improvements for efficiency or quality (level dependent)
  • Dispose of scrap and waste materials in accordance with company and environmental guidelines
  • Train, coach, or support less experienced machine operators (level dependent)
