About The Position

The Machine Operator is responsible for performing job functions to maintain the efficiency of assigned machines to meet departmental and company goals. This role involves performing first articles on color and resin changes, coordinating with Quality Control, utilizing the MATTEC production reporting system, and making adjustments to various machine systems. The operator will also ensure equipment remains operational by coordinating maintenance and following manufacturer instructions. Continuous improvement of the IBM production department's efficiency and processes is a key aspect of this role. The operator will work with the supervisor in directing activities of utilities and packers and will have complete ownership of assigned machines and lines, contributing to the team effort while adhering to all safety policies and GMPs. Other duties as assigned.

  • Must have a general mechanical ability.
  • Must be able to speak, write, and read effectively.
  • Basic comprehension skills at a normal business level.
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a basic understanding on how to use a computer.
  • Must have required tools to perform job functions.
  • One (1) year of experience in plastic blow molding or equivalent on the job training.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Perform job functions to maintain efficiency of assigned machines to meet departmental and company goals.
  • Perform first articles on color and resin changes.
  • Coordinate with Quality Control department on production activities, such as held ware, isolation procedures, etc.
  • Utilize the MATTEC production reporting system to control and improve the process (e.g., production reporting, downtime reports, SPC, SQC).
  • Make adjustments and maintain the bottle operation of the conveying, flaming, robotic and inspection systems on any IBM machine.
  • Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures.
  • Continuously improve the efficiency of the IBM production department by improving existing processes.
  • Work with the supervisor in directing activities of utilities and packers assigned to the group leader.
  • Be responsible for the complete ownership of assigned machines and lines.
  • Contribute to the team effort.
  • Support and adhere to all Berry safety policies.
  • Follow and support all Berry GMP’s.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
