About The Position

Goodwill is a mission-integrated organization dedicated to keeping donated goods from landfills and providing job readiness training and employment opportunities to individuals with disabilities and barriers to employment. The Machine Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of recycling machinery and equipment, including the baler machine, trash compactor, and forklift. This role ensures the timely processing of recycling merchandise and requires an understanding of the entire Otay Outlet operation while adhering to GISD policies and procedures.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED preferred
Minimum of one year related experience
Safety Oriented
Computer Skills commensurate with this position
Must be able to be Forklift Certified
Must be able to work 5 days per week, including weekends and evenings

Nice To Haves

Mechanical experience preferred
Some experience using manual tools such as screwdriver helpful but not necessary

Responsibilities

Operates, inspects and maintains all Outlet Equipment according to established procedures.
Makes sure equipment operates properly to maximize efficiency.
When necessary, trouble-shoots the equipment, and performs minor repairs with the approval of management.
In the absence of management assumes the responsibility of opening/closing the department, posting daily assignment sheet, making sure all ambassadors are in their designated area and reports any observations to management.
Follows all safety and loss prevention procedures.
Possesses high safety standards.
Serves as a role model regarding safety.
Fills out required logs, documentation required for the department and follows compliance guidelines in the department.
Assists customers with their donations.
Issue donation receipts.
Work collaboratively with supervisor to ensure production goals.
Utilizes 4DX methodology for achieving organizational goals.
Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned or directed.
