Machine Operator - Day Shift
About The Position
The Machine Operator follows standard work, training guides, procedures, build boards, and Kanban requirements to complete work that meets customer requirements. The role uses hand tools, reports inconsistencies or defects in materials, products, or equipment, and contributes to the company’s strategic, quality, and safety objectives. The operator is expected to work collaboratively with customers, suppliers, coworkers, and management and to uphold Steffes’ Code of Conduct, Core Values, policies, and procedures. The position requires participation in job-specific training, adherence to environmental, health, and safety procedures, and prompt reporting of safety concerns or work that cannot be completed as required. The role also involves inspecting completed work and performing tasks independently and within productivity expectations. This is a day-shift position, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Fridays may be required for mandatory overtime depending on production needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
- Basic computer knowledge, including Windows, email, and internet use.
- Written and verbal communication, math, reading, and spelling skills.
- Good math and visualization skills.
- Ability to lift 70 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push or pull up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders or stairs and to stoop, crouch, kneel, bend, walk, sit, or stand as required.
- Ability to handle, feel, and grip for some activities.
- Visual acuity to inspect completed work.
- Ability to learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in a workflow, communicate with visitors, and work in situations with speed or productivity quotas.

Responsibilities
- Follow and understand standard work, training guides, procedures, and acceptance criteria to meet customer requirements.
- Use various hand tools.
- Follow and understand build boards and Kanban system requirements.
- Report inconsistencies or defects in materials, products, or equipment.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere through collaborative communication with customers, suppliers, coworkers, and management.
- Help the company meet its strategic, quality, and safety objectives.
- Perform work in compliance with environmental, health, and safety training and procedures; promptly report incidents or concerns and contribute to the EHS program.
- Participate in job-specific training and complete work according to standard work, processes, and procedures; notify a supervisor when work cannot be completed as required.
- Support the Steffes Code of Conduct, policies, and procedures, and maintain professional, punctual, and quality-focused conduct.
- Inspect completed work and complete tasks independently within workflow and productivity expectations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
