About The Position

FLOFORM Countertops, a Canadian company established in 1961 and recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, is seeking a Full Time Stone Machine Operator for the Evening Shift at its Local Abbotsford Branch. The company has its head office in Winnipeg, MB, with 16 branches and 5 manufacturing facilities located in Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest, manufacturing, selling, and installing over 20,000 premium surface countertops annually. The Machine Operator in the Stone Division is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various machinery, including CNC Routers, Waterjet Saws, and similar equipment. Key duties involve loading and unloading parts, utilizing mechanical lifters as required, performing accurate quality checks of all products, and conducting basic maintenance and cleaning of equipment. The evening shift operates Monday through Thursday from 4pm to 2:30am.

Requirements

  • 1+ years’ experience operating industrial manufacturing equipment (preferably Stone)
  • Basic computer skills, MS Office
  • Ability to read units of measurements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hand woodworking tools and the operation of power tools such as table saw, chop saw etc
  • Has or can obtain forklift operator’s certificate
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal)
  • Must be hard working, motivated, well organized and task oriented
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Able to withstand exposure to water (hands/feet) for extended periods of time
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to work with hand tools using wrist and fine manipulation for long periods of time
  • Able to lift 60-100lbs occasionally
  • Exposure to dust and wet conditions

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the stone manufacturing equipment
  • Loading/Unloading and Setting-up stock to be machined using laser guides or stops for placement
  • Safe operation of mechanical lifters (ie. overhead cranes) where required
  • Performs accurate quality checks/measurements to ensure product conforms to specifications
  • Troubleshoot machine settings and tools to resolve minor issues
  • Maintains strong knowledge of equipment processes and safe work practices, including all required tooling specifications
  • Able to monitor multiple machines during operation, pro-actively preparing for end of cycles and reacting to machining issues
  • Performs basic maintenance tasks and inspections of machines and tooling
  • Maintains workstation in a clean and orderly manner
  • Observes and adhere to all safety procedures while on the production floor
  • Participates in cross training when asked
  • Performs other tasks on production floor as assigned by Supervisor (ie. Edge Lamination, Polishing, etc.)
  • Participates in team huddles
  • Monthly inventory counts
  • Other duties as assigned
