About The Position

This Machine Operator position is with Silgan Containers, recognized as America's largest metal food packaging producer. The role involves learning about production lines, operating equipment, and maintaining quality standards. Key tasks include operating a palletizer to prepare finished goods for storage or shipment and inspecting cans for defects. Silgan supports employee development through on-the-job training, trade school classes, and tuition reimbursement.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow verbal and written instructions in English
  • Experience using computers, copiers, calculators, scanners, and printers

Responsibilities

  • Gain knowledge of production lines, equipment, and quality standards
  • Work on a palletizer to group and layer finished goods in preparation for storage or shipment
  • Check the quality of the cans to identify defects

Benefits

  • Starting pay is $27.38 per hour plus $1.75 shift differential
  • Quarterly bonus based on group efficiency, safety, housekeeping, and quality metrics. Up to 11 percent bonus on top of base wage!
