About The Position

BlueScope Coated Products is seeking a Machine Operator for their Finish Coater position on the night shift. This role is responsible for the safe operation of the roll coater in the Finish A room, which is a single-head coater. The operator will be involved in setting up the coater, measuring painting parameters, adjusting the coater based on QC direction, performing roll changes, cleaning equipment, moving paint drums, measuring and documenting paint usage, and entering data into Oracle. The position requires adherence to quality and environmental management systems and daily communication with production and quality control personnel to resolve issues and achieve company goals.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
Knowledge of basic hand and power tools.
Signed off as a Coater Assistant or Prime Coater Operator.
Basic computer skills.
Time Management – prioritizing work to meet internal and/or external customer demands.
Detail Oriented – ensures accuracy of product and documentation to meet internal and/or external customer demands.
Good communication skills.
Mobile equipment operations skills.

Nice To Haves

6+ months of experience operating mobile equipment in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Safe operation of the roll coater in the Finish A room.
Setting up the Coater.
Measuring painting parameters (wet film thickness, viscosity, temperature, roll speeds).
Adjusting the Coater following direction from QC Lab Tech.
Performing roll changes.
Cleaning painting equipment.
Moving paint drums in and out of the coater room.
Measuring and documenting paint usage information.
Entering data into Oracle.
Working from shop order, schedules, and special instruction.
Keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition.
Understanding and complying with the fundamental principles associated with the Quality and Environmental Management System.
Communicating daily with internal personnel from Production and Quality Control to assist in resolving problems and achieving company goals.
