About The Position

This is a safety-sensitive position with the primary responsibility for supporting the daily production results for their assigned Value Stream. This includes meeting targeted objectives in the areas of safety, quality, service, OEE, waste, and continuous improvement. The position primarily interacts with other Machine Operators but also requires interaction with all support departments including but not limited to Quality, Shipping & Logistics, Maintenance, and Human Resources. The role involves tending machines and making functional adjustments to ensure products meet specifications and quality attributes with assistance. It also includes operating machines that perform converting or packaging functions such as splicing, converting, wrapping, lid application, and palletizing of wet wipe products. The operator is responsible for meeting manufacturing and quality targets, detecting and reporting defective materials and conditions, and maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment per safety and cGMP regulations. Following the Changeover checklist and performing changeovers within required time constraints with assistance is also a key part of the role. The position requires familiarity with basic machine operations and a willingness to embrace training, accept feedback, and adapt to a high-performance work team culture. The ability to flow to the work and provide necessary help for others is essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Machine operation experience preferred
  • Good communication skills

  • Ability to work in a team-focused environment
  • Bending, standing, stooping, and walking constantly for up to 12 hours per shift
  • Lifting 23 lbs. to 48 lbs. occasional to frequently for up to 12 hours per shift
  • Pushing and pulling 32 lbs. not excluding overhead push pull motion frequently for up to 12 hours per shift
  • Climbing a step stools and crossovers occasionally for up to 12 hours per shift
  • Reaching, handling and writing occasional to frequently over a 12-hour shift period
  • Must be able to physically and visually navigate the production floor and assigned work areas in a safe manner, including areas of varying texture, temperature and line of sight.
  • Must be willing to accept and receive frequent feedback and assistance with regard to machine set-up and work functions.
  • Must be able to adapt to the high-performance work team culture and must interact effectively with other Machine Operators, customers, other teams, and leadership to ensure the success of everyone.
  • Must flow to the work to provide the necessary help for others.
  • Complete 90-day Introductory Period (if new hire) for VSOP1 Certification eligibility.
  • Training Documentation on asset completed along with On-the-Job Checklist and 15 Day Run form for VSOP1 Certification eligibility.
  • Training Documentation on asset completed along with On-the-Job Checklist and 15 Day Run form for VSOP2 Certification eligibility.
  • Must be VSOP1 or above on the designated asset for SMT eligibility.
  • Cannot have any active written warnings on file (excluding written attendance) for SMT eligibility.
  • Must have less than 8 attendance points at time of application for SMT eligibility.
  • Must successfully complete 10 hours SMT training within 6 months of becoming an SMT.
  • Cannot receive any FINAL performance or attendance warnings after accepting SMT position.
  • Must maintain less than 8 points once they have accepted the SMT position.

Nice To Haves

  • Operator needs to be on requested asset for at least six months.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily production results for the assigned Value Stream, meeting objectives in safety, quality, service, OEE, waste, and continuous improvement.
  • Tend machines and make functional adjustments to ensure product meets specifications and quality attributes with assistance.
  • Operate machines performing converting or packaging functions (splicing, converting, wrapping, lid application, palletizing).
  • Meet manufacturing and quality targets.
  • Detect, record, and report defective materials, finished goods, or questionable conditions.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment per safety and cGMP regulations.
  • Follow Changeover checklist and perform changeovers on designated assets within time constraints with assistance.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting/problem-solving issues with minimal assistance (VSOP1 Certified).
  • Proactively identify problems or continuous improvement opportunities (VSOP1 Certified).
  • Demonstrate a high commitment to the team’s results and the success of others by training on basic machine operator functions and job shadowing less skilled machine operators (VSOP1 Certified).
  • Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required per instructions (VSOP2 Certified).
  • Proficiently perform machine set up and coach others (VSOP2 Certified).
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting (VSOP2 Certified).
  • Actively participate in training new associates through use of training Folder, soft skills and ability to positively influence business directives (SMT).
  • Use soft skills and communication to positively influence business directives (SMT).
  • Lead by example and actively support in continuous improvement for KPI’s and 5S (SMT).
  • Work with Process Trainer(s) to ensure current and correct VMSs are on the floor in the VMS Binders as well as Training Folders (SMT).
  • Maintain and sign-off on all Training Documents (per GDPs) until completion of training (SMT).
  • Assist in 15-30-45 Day Progress Reports with Supervisor, Trainee and Process Trainer (SMT).
  • Lead in the assigned SMT area with the Process Engineer group (SMT).
