Position Summary We are seeking a proactive and experienced Machine Operator- 3rd shift to join our team. At ITW, operators do more than “run a machine”, you own a process that keeps customers whole, safely and efficiently. You will set up, operate, and troubleshoot embossing and converting equipment to produce high-quality film to spec. Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Mechanical aptitude and/or prior manufacturing experience
  • Able to read job travelers/SOPs and complete electronic entries
  • Physical capability to stand, walk, reach, and lift up to 65 lbs.; respirator clearance as required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in film converting (embossing, slitting, coating, laminating)
  • Basic 5S/Lean exposure; forklift experience/certification

Responsibilities

  • Own a safety-first focus: LOTO as required, verify guarding/PPE, review MSDS/SDS for any solvents; complete pre-run checklists.
  • Keep a clean, organized cell (5S) and follow hazardous-materials procedures when handling solvents.
  • Maintain respirator readiness when tasks require it (fit test/medical clearance).
  • Participate in Layered safety audits and other initiatives.
  • Stage job, reviewing SOPs, and prep tools.
  • Align/fasten rollers, blades, and web paths; thread film; set tension, temperature, speed, nip/pressure; verify slit widths and emboss pattern.
  • Execute changeovers quickly and correctly to minimize downtime; load/unload at unwind/rewind.
  • Monitor web during run; correct wrinkles, telescoping, weave, haze/surface defects, and edge quality.
  • Perform in-process checks (gauge/width, emboss depth/registration, appearance), using micrometers, calipers, scales, and control-panel data.
  • Record run data, lot/roll IDs, scrap codes, and job quantities per SOP; print labels and production sheets.
  • Stop and alert on out-of-spec conditions; collaborate with technical staff/Team Lead to disposition questionable product.
  • Move materials with pallet jack/forklift (training available); pack/strap finished rolls per spec.
  • Complete end-of-run cleaning and basic preventive care; return tools/parts to standard locations (5S).
  • Bring Customer-Back ideas to reduce scrap/downtime and improve first-pass yield; participate in CI events.
  • Crosstrain across cells and assist peers; share best practices (flexibility within a framework).
  • Escalate issues early; communicate clearly at shift handoffs.
