About The Position

The Machine Operator operates production machine(s) that packages a variety of products. This job follows standard practices and procedures, and is expected to accomplish work assignments with a limited amount of supervision.

Requirements

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to read and understand English.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to function/control/program machine’s internal computer system
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

Prior forklift training and experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Reads schedule to obtain work orders and volume of packages to be produced.
Selects, positions, and secures packaging such as film, cubes, boxes, containers, etc.
Positions and secures proper former and loads hopper with correct product.
Moves controls to adjust print and checks seals for quality (bags).
Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of packaging to specifications.
Labels boxes that have been inspected and signed off by supervisor.
Packages packaging in labeled boxes and loads pallets for shipment.
Cleans and maintains work area and equipment.
Able to be forklift certified (if needed).
Able to work overtime and weekends when needed.
Follow and practice safety rules and regulations.
