The Metal Fabricator is responsible for operating and maintaining metal fabrication machinery to produce high-quality steel components to exact specifications. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and precision. Fabricators play a key role in maintaining production flow, meeting customer requirements, and ensuring consistent quality standards.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience ina metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience driving forklifts (warehouse, counterbalance, and heavy-duty style).
- Strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting and precision measuring skills.
- Ability to read and interpret prints, schematics, and process documentation.
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented with the ability to meet production deadlines.
- Physically able to lift up to 75 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screening.
- Reliable transportation required.
Responsibilities
- Operate and adjust metal fabrication machinery, including press brakes, roll formers, shears, and punch machines to meet production specifications.
- Read and interpret prints, schematics, and job travelers to determine proper setup and tooling.
- Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, and tape measures) to verify dimensions and ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Perform routine maintenance, minor repairs, and changeovers to maintain optimal machine performance.
- Document production activity, quality checks, and machine adjustments accurately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company and OSHA standards.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
- Participate in team problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
