About The Position

This position is responsible for ensuring team members follow safety and housekeeping policies, directing the completion of daily tasks, and identifying and correcting product quality problems. The role involves monitoring production to ensure planned rates are met, completing production reports, and managing equipment to maintain production requirements. The Machine Operator is also responsible for the setup and operation of specific machinery, weighing and discarding waste, and reporting to work on time. Additional duties include participating in continuous improvement, ensuring effective communication, training team members, submitting maintenance work orders, and directing the production crew regarding breaks and preventive maintenance tasks.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • Ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures team members are following all safety & housekeeping policies and procedures.
  • Directs the completion of Daily Essential Cares.
  • Directs the completion of Weekly Start-up Procedure as appropriate.
  • Directs the completion of the Weekly Shut-down Procedure as appropriate.
  • Identify and notify Zone Lead of unsafe conditions.
  • Ensures team members are following the Extruder Process Control Plans (PCP-EL124, PCP-EL6).
  • Identifies and corrects product quality problems.
  • Notifies Team Lead and Maintenance Team Members as necessary to correct and prevent product quality problems.
  • Ensures team members are able to produce finished product at no less than the plan rate.
  • Completes Daily Production Report (DPR-EXT) including hour-by-hour performance.
  • Records downtime on Weekly Downtime Chart.
  • Notifies Zone Lead and Maintenance Team Members as necessary to maintain equipment in proper working order to meet production requirements.
  • Responsible for set-up and operation of the label machine, mesh applicator and glue system (as appropriate).
  • Weigh & discard product waste.
  • Report to work station on time at the start of the shift.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensure effective communication among the crew members and across shifts.
  • Train team members are necessary.
  • Submit maintenance work orders as necessary.
  • Directs production crew regarding daily breaks and lunch/dinner breaks to ensure continuous production.
  • Directs production crew to perform daily and weekly preventive maintenance tasks.
