JOB SUMMARY The Utility Person will provide relief and/or replace personnel in all positions within the production line (such as Machine Operator, Color Mix Operator, Forklift Operator or Stacker) by performing their duties.

Requirements

  • Basic mathematical skills (i.e. ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide)
  • High School Diploma required.
  • 6 months to 1 year of color or tile manufacturing experience required.
  • Employee must possess a forklift driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months Forklift driving experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with Westlake Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility
  • Assists and coordinates activities of the crew on the production line at the direction of or in the absence of the Line Supervisor, by coordinating work assignments for the employees on the crew, arranging for breaks and lunches and ensuring that safety rules are followed.
  • A utility Person must be fully trained and adhere to all lock-out/tag-out procedures and provide training to other as needed.
  • In conjunction with the quality assurance technicians, monitor the quality of the tiles being produced by checking colors and physical properties, regularly. Suggests adjustments to the equipment or requests assistance from maintenance personnel to ensure that quality levels are maintained.
  • Monitors and enforces all safety, equal opportunity, environmental protection rules and procedures by observing the activities of the work crew(s) and correcting deviations from the procedures, as they occur. Reports to Supervisor all matters requiring the attention of the supervisor.
  • Assures that all housekeeping is maintained in a clear and orderly fashion in the assigned area(s).
  • In conjunction with the Line Supervisor/Plant Manager, train and develop other production employees in safety, quality, and job requirements.
  • Prepare production reports as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.
