About The Position

This position requires operating equipment for secondary operations (e.g., Lathes, Drills, Coil Winders, Tapping and Drilling Machines, Riveters, etc.) associated with operations in the FEEDERS area and learning to perform set-ups for them. In assembly operations, the position requires assembling product parts and components according to established specifications and standards.

Requirements

  • High school graduate (fourth year).
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in manufacturing operations or a related trade.
  • To be Certified in the position, you must complete all required training.
  • Operate machinery associated with operations in the Feeders area.
  • Know and master the operation of 30% or more of the machinery associated with your position, according to the area's Cross Training Matrix.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment (TPM/Operator).
  • Assist in making necessary adjustments to keep the process under control.
  • Use measurement instruments such as: caliper, comparator, micrometer, pin gages, threads, and required hand tools such as screwdriver, pliers, hammer, etc.
  • Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and visual aids, as required.
  • Have basic computer knowledge.
  • Is in development of using measurement instruments and hand tools.
  • Operate crane equipment if necessary.
  • Operate electrical test equipment (Tester).
  • Have basic knowledge in the use of hand and electric tools.
  • Ability to perform quality work.
  • Possess good communication skills to interact with the work team, area coordinator, and supervisor.
  • Ability to perform physical work, stand for long periods of time, and lift heavy objects as necessary.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and organization of the work area.

  • Knowledge of Kanban, TPM, Lean, and 5S.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of industrial machinery to cut, wind, rivet, weld, bend, straighten, and form metal or plastic parts according to specifications and quality requirements.
  • Perform simple tool changes (fixtures).
  • Perform assigned TPM/Operator tasks.
  • Read and interpret specifications on engineering drawings (when necessary).
  • Perform attribute inspections (e.g., threads, holes, Go, No-Go gages, and Testers) on parts and components, according to drawings and established quality requirements (where necessary).
  • Fully utilize and be certified in the use of measurement instruments, such as: Testers, pin gage, and thread gage, Go, No-Go gage, etc.
  • Actively participate in Kaizen events (when necessary).
  • Requires guidance from a more skilled operator.
  • Perform work in compliance with established operational guidelines (MESH, LEAN, ERP, etc.).
  • Assemble and mount components according to work instructions and drawings.
  • Use manual, electric, or mechanical tools to perform assembly.
  • Verify that the necessary parts and components for assembly are available in the area and requisition them if necessary.
  • Meet daily production objectives.
  • Report any problems related to the assembly process or product quality to the area coordinator or supervisor.
  • Handle and store chemicals as required by the drawing and Safety Data Sheet.
  • Document and report production reports such as: scrap, routing sheet, electrical tests, manual and electrical adjustments, etc.
  • Move materials to feed machinery.
  • Make process adjustments, according to Kanban priorities or special requirements, using existing reports.
  • Comply with safety procedures and applicable codes for assigned tasks.
  • Comply with the requirements of our quality system.
  • If necessary, can teach others.
  • Use material handling carts and pallet jacks to move and lift heavy units as required.
  • Execute function according to received training.
  • Know and execute tasks according to the plant's Safety and Environmental Policy and Procedures; preventing environmental contamination, observing that safety rules are followed by yourself and others, taking care of and correctly using safety equipment in required areas, and contributing with your ideas to improve the health and safety of everyone in the plant.
  • Report any unsafe condition to your supervisor and/or Safety Officer.
  • Be attentive to accident prevention in your work area.
  • Exercise function according to received training, including JSA (Job Safety Analysis) and work instructions and electrical test instructions.
  • Observe the operation and ensure that processes comply with specifications, standards, and codes applicable to your work.
  • Maintain required inspection records in the operation in the Quantum data collection system.
  • Identify deficiencies and needs for repair or maintenance.
  • Comply with assigned tasks according to applicable procedures or supervisor instructions in a reasonable time and providing expected results.
  • Know and execute tasks according to Eaton Quality System (EQS) procedures.
  • Know and execute tasks according to safety procedures (MESH).
  • Maintain equipment and facilities clean to ensure their proper handling, including safeguarding assigned property.
