About The Position

The Machine Operator I is responsible for operating and maintaining assigned equipment, including performing start-up and shut-down routines according to manufacturer's or company procedures. Key duties involve laser welding for hermetically sealing electronic aerospace modules, operating HASS CNC and Bridgeport milling machines for cover removal, and performing environmental stress screening (ESS) of electronic aerospace modules per MIL-STD-883. This includes temperature cycling, leak testing, mechanical shock, centrifuge, powered/unpowered burn-in, laser, and ink marking. The role requires adherence to manufacturing process instructions, safety procedures, ESD, FOD, and MSD handling requirements, and working in a clean room environment, often under a microscope. The operator will also perform daily and weekly preventative maintenance and support 6S objectives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of machine operation and maintenance per manufacturer’s guidelines
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks / follow company procedures / product work instructions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and support multiple pieces of equipment and product lines / customer(s)
  • Ability to input data in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to operate a standard Windows based computer
  • Ability to work with small hand tools to install/remove nuts, bolts, screws, etc.
  • Ability to input product data accurately into a manufacturing execution system
  • 1-2 Years of relative experience or education

  • Prior machine operation experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operating, maintaining assigned and training equipment
  • Performing all start-up and shut-down routines required for equipment as documented on the manufacturers or company procedures
  • Demonstrating understanding of hermetically sealing electronic aerospace modules (Laser weld)
  • Understanding HASS CNC and Bridgeport milling machines and effectively removing covers of laser sealed electronic modules that fail the customer’s acceptance requirement testing (Machine shop)
  • Demonstrating understanding of environmental stress screening of electronic aerospace modules – MIL-STD-883
  • Starting the equipment, verifying the correct program or profile name outlined in Company documentation and running equipment
  • Performing daily and weekly Preventative Maintenance, entering results into a maintenance log
  • Following up on Manufacturing Process Instructions
  • Following start-up (as well as shutdown) and safety procedures to operate machines
  • Adhering to all ESD, FOD and product handling requirements
  • Using Moisture Sensitive Device (MSD) handling requirements based on the components’ Moisture Sensitive Levels (MSL)
  • Working in a clean room environment
  • Working under a microscope for extensive periods of time
  • Complying with company work instruction and customer specifications
  • Working with small hand tools to remove FOD debris as necessary
  • Complying with all in-house training as identified in job specific family and or specific training plan
  • Supporting all corporate and site 6S objectives
  • Performing all other duties as assigned
