OPW is part of the Clean Energy & Fueling segment of Dover (NYSE: DOV). The CNC Machinist will be responsible for production of machined components on various machining centers. The role demands a high level of expertise in operating turning, vertical and horizontal machining centers as well as multi-spindle lathes.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience (Journeyman level) with CNC multi-axis Swiss turning machines; Star experience a plus
  • Effectively program, set up and operate vertical and horizontal machining centers (3-4 axes)
  • Effectively determine tooling, set up, program, and operate Swiss Style/Star lathes unassisted and unsupervised.
  • Capable of using the appropriate measuring tools and equipment
  • Capable of choosing the appropriate cutting tools
  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Ability and willingness to train other operators.
  • Experience with Fanuc Controls
  • Fluent in G&M code

  • Gibbs Cam programming
  • CAD experience (Solidworks, AutoCAD)
  • PLC Knowledge
  • Exposure to or working experience in continuous improvement or lean methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for various types of machinery.
  • Setup machines for production runs, ensuring maximum efficiency and precision.
  • Operate turning, vertical and horizontal machining centers, and Swiss-style lathes, adhering to all safety and quality standards.
  • Monitor machinery during operation to detect any signs of malfunction or deviation from expected performance.
  • Perform regular quality checks on components produced to ensure they meet or exceed specifications.
  • Adjust machine settings or programming as necessary to correct any issues.
  • Lead, train, and mentor less experienced machinists and operators.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages skill enhancement and productivity.
