About The Position

This position involves applying metal to customer orders and accurately processing material according to work order specifications using advanced machinery or possessing an advanced skill level in warehouse machinery. The role requires ensuring processing equipment is maintained in a safe and clean condition, maintaining the processing area in a clean, safe, and orderly manner, and accurately completing all required information entry. The Machine Operator I will also perform any other tasks as assigned. This is a safety-sensitive position that works directly on the warehouse floor around heavy machinery.

Requirements

  • High school diploma / GED
  • 1 to 2 years machine operation experience
  • Ability to read and write
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
  • Perform basic math skills
  • Use of handheld measuring tools
  • Safety Mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Previous warehouse experience - especially in the metals industry
  • Previous forklift experience
  • Computer literate

Responsibilities

  • Certified in the material handler position.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
  • Pull, inspect and verify product before processing.
  • Properly and safely set up equipment to run material to set up note specifications.
  • Process set up notes according to work order specifications.
  • Verify that product meets set up note specifications per written work instructions and record measurements (sampling plan).
  • Communicate with appropriate sales representative regarding changes/clarification to orders.
  • Make recommendations to improve processes in the manufacturing area.
  • Perform equipment preventive maintenance and general clean-up.
  • Properly enter/delete material identification tags per written instructions.
  • Balance immediate workload, recognizing when help is needed and assisting or directing others.
  • Assist in the packaging of material per written work instructions and work order.
  • Maintain issued measurement equipment in working condition.
  • Properly operate weighing scale and record inspection measurements.
  • Identify, record, and segregate scrap and any non-conforming material.
  • Provide feedback to supervision regarding machine efficiency and product quality.
  • Perform quality checks during machine operation to ensure proper function.
  • Complete production/productivity logs and reconcile production data.
  • Complete job responsibilities in a manner that does not put him/her or other individuals in an unsafe situation.
  • Train others when required.
  • Assist in any activities related to lean and/or quality.
