About The Position

Apogee Architectural Metals is seeking a Machine Operator I for their 2nd shift. Apogee Enterprises, Inc., founded in 1949, is a growing company with annual revenues approaching $1.3 billion, providing distinctive metal and glass solutions for commercial buildings and display applications. The Architectural Metals segment specializes in aluminum windows, storefront, and entrance systems, offering integrated capabilities from design to assembly. Brands supported include Alumicor, EFCO, Linetec, and Tubelite. This role involves setting up and operating production machinery according to established procedures, using computer-controlled equipment, and adjusting machine settings for accuracy and timely completion of tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to use and accurately read measuring devices (tape measures).
  • Ability to use hand tools (hammer, wrench, level, etc.).
  • Ability to follow blueprints.
  • Ability to read and interpret Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ability to use a computer with basic proficiency (data entry).

Responsibilities

  • Basic operation of simple machinery and equipment, such as presses, lathes, or cutters.
  • Ability to follow standardized procedures for setting up and operating machines.
  • Ability to perform basic maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and lubricating machines.
  • Familiarity with reading simple work orders or production instructions.
  • Producing and ensuring product meets or exceeds established product specifications.
  • Attention to detail to ensure machine operation is accurate and products meet basic quality standards.
  • Basic problem-solving ability to identify and report machine malfunctions.
  • Must be cross-trained and able to support all Operator I roles.
