About The Position

The Machine Operator I – Automated Manufacturing (Day Shift) is responsible for safely operating and monitoring automated production equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role supports operations such as saw operation, stacking, oven/cure processes, and automated material handling, where employees primarily monitor HMI control screens, respond to alarms, complete quality checks, and ensure product flows through the line efficiently.

Requirements

  • Manufacturing experience (production, assembly, automated equipment, CNC-support environment, or similar).
  • Ability to read and follow written/verbal instructions and complete production documentation.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Safety-first mindset and ability to follow all plant safety procedures.
  • Ability to recognize defects and process abnormalities and respond appropriately.
  • Ability to perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures (training provided as applicable).
  • Comfort working around automated equipment and responding to alarms/interlocks.
  • Ability to use hand tools and measuring devices (tape measure, calipers, gauges as applicable).
  • Strong attention to detail, situational awareness, and reliability.
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, and lift/move materials as required by the role.
  • Ability to work assigned day shift schedule.
  • Ability to pass a drug test and meet minimum age requirement (18+).
  • Team-oriented, dependable, and accountable.

Nice To Haves

  • Extrusion experience
  • Experience in automated manufacturing, CNC-related environments, robotics/automation, or equipment monitored via HMI/PLC interfaces.
  • Extrusion, polymer manufacturing, or process manufacturing experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor automated production equipment (e.g., saws, stackers, ovens/cure processes, conveyors, automated handling systems) in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor HMI/control screens, production setpoints, and alarms; make routine adjustments within defined parameters and escalate issues as needed.
  • Load/unload materials and maintain the correct materials/supplies to support continuous production.
  • Perform start-up/shutdown and routine equipment checks; document production data, downtime, and quality results.
  • Conduct quality inspections and random checks (dimensions, appearance, color, labeling, banding) to verify product meets specifications.
  • Stack, label, band, and prepare finished product according to standards and customer requirements.
  • Identify and report mechanical, electrical, automation, or quality issues; partner with Maintenance and Leads to support troubleshooting.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area (5S).
  • Communicate production status, issues, and handoffs effectively between shifts.
  • Participate in safety, continuous improvement, and team meetings.
  • Assist with training and mentoring new operators as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
