About The Position

The Machine Operator/Heavy Labor Worker is an employee in the production department and a member of the production team. This role is responsible for performing manual and heavy labor when necessary, and operating company equipment such as baggers, scales, and printers to process products according to the highest standards of food quality. The employee is required to notify management of any issues regarding food safety and general safety awareness. This position requires the ability to work in a cold, wet environment (34-36°F) for 8 or more hours daily, involving constant walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, twisting, and using both hands for grasping, manipulation, pushing, pulling, and reaching. Daily lifting and carrying requirements range from 2 oz to 50 lbs up to 7 feet high and 20 feet in distance. The heaviest item required to carry is a team lift and carry of 50-150 lbs film rollstock for 20 feet occasionally.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience of work in a similar environment preferred.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with fast-changing priorities and keep up with workflow.
  • Work in a team effort environment.
  • Able to follow simple instructions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience operating packing equipment.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge or experience working with produce or similar field.
  • WALKING, STANDING, BENDING NECK, BENDING WAIST, SQUATTING, CLIMBING, TWISTING NECK, TWISTING WAIST, BOTH HANDS USE (SIMPLE GRASPING, POWER GRASPING, FINE MANIPULATION, PUSHING AND PULLING, REACHING BELOW AND ABOVE SHOULDER LEVEL) for 8 or more hours.
  • Daily lifting and carrying requirements for 8 or more hours: 2 OZ -50 LBS 7 FEET HIGH, 20 FEET IN DISTANCE.
  • Team lift and carry 50-150 lbs film rollstock 20 feet occasionally.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Classic Salads Food Safety and GMP Policies, including Basic Policies (TRN-0101, TRN-102, TRN-103. TRN-104. TRN-105. TRN-1061).
  • Complete Classic Salads Standard Production Procedures.
  • Use proper lifting and folding boxes techniques.
  • Report all deficiencies to management.
  • Work overtime and weekends and holidays if necessary.
  • Move product and/or materials manually.
  • Report all injuries and incidents big or small.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail (bag seals, date codes, weights, etc).
  • Report any foreign objects while performing duties to immediate supervisor.
  • Communicate with management and/or other employees.
  • Be conscious to reduce material spoilage.
  • Able to work in a cold wet environment 34-36 °F.
  • Work/cross-train in other areas.
  • Operate company's equipment (baggers, scales, spin dryers, feed belts, box coders, etc.).
  • Calibrate scales daily.
  • Team lift film roll stock 50-150 lbs.
  • Keep work area clean.
  • Maintain correct weights and measurements according to product specification.
  • Maintain correct coding according to product specifications.
  • Stay in assigned work area.
  • Ability to operate a manual pallet jack.
  • Stack and Lift raw and finished product containers/boxes 10-50 lbs occasionally.
  • Team lift garbage cans 10-70 lbs occasionally.
  • Lift empty pallets 45-85 Lbs occasionally.
  • Communicate with production supervisor, QC department, and data entry.
  • Wrap and palletize finished product occasionally.
  • Mark cartons and label according to instructions occasionally.
  • Complete daily reports.
  • Follow directions regarding product mixes and recipes.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): bump cap, hearing protection, hair net, beard net, eye protection (goggles), face shield, gloves, slip-resistant shoes, wet/rain suit, apron, etc.
  • Be aware of surroundings due to forklift traffic.
