The starting pay for this position is $23.30 /hour plus $.80 shift differential for 2nd shift. The Extruder Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring extrusion equipment to produce quality products that meet production specifications, safety standards, and efficiency goals. This is a government regulated program and failure to comply with all rules, regulations and guidelines could result in a recall of product or the shutdown of this plant.

Requirements

  • 6 months work history with the same employer
  • 6 months of machine operator or forklift experience
  • Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson will have a minimum rehire waiting period of 180 days and are limited to 3 times of employment.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must have an aptitude for math and mechanics.
  • Must be able to read and understand manuals, blue prints, plant paperwork, labels, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate extrusion equipment according to production specifications and work orders
  • Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to temperature, speed, and pressure settings
  • Make informed decisions that may impact product quality, ensuring adherence to quality standards
  • Perform basic math calculations to complete production paperwork and make minor equipment adjustments
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues using sound judgment and mechanical aptitude
  • Read and interpret manuals, production documents, labels, and work instructions
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and accuracy
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and support teams to ensure smooth operations
  • Follow HACCP and food safety standards (certification required or obtained on the job)
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with all safety procedures
  • Demonstrate mechanical inclination and problem-solving skills in daily operations
  • Exercise good judgment and common sense when addressing production or equipment concerns
  • Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned
