About The Position

Cascade Die Casting Group is seeking a full-time Machine Operator for their Mid-State Division in Grand Rapids, MI. The role involves operating die cast machines, trim presses, and related equipment, performing basic quality checks, and documenting performance. Associates are required to follow safety regulations for operating die casting and trimming equipment. The position requires reading and comprehending work instructions, diagnosing and performing minor repairs on machinery, meeting production goals, repairing leaks, setting slides, operating robots, maneuvering through auto trim presses, operating a ladle and recip, visually inspecting for defects, entering data into production software, reporting improper operations or faulty equipment, learning new tasks, adapting to job changes, cross-training, and maintaining a clean work area. Overtime hours, including emergency overtime, may be required. Regular attendance and a desire to perform to the best of one's abilities are expected. The role also involves working safely around heavy equipment and manufacturing machinery, and performing job-specific training duties if available. Additional responsibilities include complying with company policies, working cooperatively in a team environment, exhibiting core values, participating in continuous improvement, working in other classifications or departments as needed, following standardized work instructions, and communicating problem areas with supervisors and coworkers.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic math, reading, and writing.
Basic computer skills.
Lock Out/Tag Out experience.
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Possess good physical stamina and coordination.

Ability to read standardized work instructions, operate machines and tools, and perform quality inspections.

Ability to wear personal protective equipment, for example: safety glasses, gloves, hats, ear plugs, and steel-toed safety shoes.
Ability to work in a loud manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled (conditions can be hot or cold) and/or in hazardous environments.
Ability to frequently and repetitively bend, push, pull, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach to perform work.
Ability to lift or carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds and periodically carry or lift materials weighing up to 50lbs.
Ability to use hand positioning to grip/grasp devices such as hoists and a wide range of power and vibrating tools or other equipment.
Ability to occasionally sit, climb (including ladders and lifts) and drive vehicles and equipment.
Recognizes potential exposure to mechanical, chemical, electrical, and explosive hazards.

Responsibilities

Operate die cast machines, trim presses, and all related equipment.
Perform basic quality checks and document performance on an hourly basis.
Follow and adhere to safety regulations regarding the safe operation of die casting and trimming equipment.
Read, comprehend, and follow written, standardized work instructions and trained procedures to perform any die casting and/or trim machine operation.
Diagnose and perform minor repairs on die cast and trim press machines, and robot gripper systems.
Complete tasks and targeted production goals (scrap/uptime) on a daily basis to meet production standards.
Repair water, hot oil, and minor hydraulic leaks on die.
Pull and set slides.
Put robot in auto mode.
Maneuver through Panel View on auto trim presses.
Operate ladle and recip.
Visually inspect for defects following established procedures.
Accurately enter data into production software and quality systems.
Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to proper supervisor.
Learn new tasks and adapt to frequent job duty changes, including cross-training and working on multiple machines as required by business and manpower demands.
Properly complete daily paperwork.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area consistent with safety and work rules and regulations.
Work overtime hours as required and be available for emergency overtime when the need arises.
Regularly report for work on time.
Work safely around and/or while operating heavy equipment or manufacturing machinery.
Perform Job Specific Training Form duties if available.
Comply with all company employment policies, procedures/processes, and programs.
