About The Position

This role involves operating production equipment to process material according to specifications and instructions. The Machine Operator will manage all aspects of product quality, including material selection, dimensional tolerance, weight, and piece count, and conduct various inspections. The position also requires contributing to a safety culture by adhering to guidelines, wearing personal protective equipment, and reporting equipment issues. Teamwork is essential, involving collaboration with the production crew to meet goals, assisting with housekeeping, and completing other assigned tasks.

Requirements

Competency reading tape measures and calipers
Forklift experience preferred but not required
Strong attention to detail
Ability to multi-task
Ability to operate assigned equipment safely
Effective communication skills
Ability to frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds
Ability to mount & dismount equipment
Ability to stand for a long period of time
Capable of walking, climbing and bending for periods of time
Comfortable working in hot and cold atmospheres depending on weather conditions

Nice To Haves

High School Diploma or equivalent
One (1) year production operator experience
Experience working in a steel service center on a leveling and/ or slitting machine

Responsibilities

Set up and operate production lines to process material according to specifications and instructions
Manage all aspects of product quality including selection of material, dimensional tolerance, weight and piece count
Conduct pre-process, in-process and post process inspections
Advocate for safety by adhering to guidelines, wearing personal protective equipment, and reporting any equipment functioning issues
Work collaboratively with production crew to meet goals
Assist with housekeeping tasks
Complete additional job-related responsibilities as assigned
